Leah Plaxton
Libra Research

Background
Libra Research is a small media strategy
business led by Leah Plaxton of Hamilton,
Ontario. The firm provides research and web
analytics consulting services for a range of
clients.

Challenge
Earlier this year Libra was engaged with three
particularly demanding clients each with
differing task and time-tracking requirements.
Leah knew she needed to meet each client's
specific criteria but wanted a single system to
help her achieve this so she could remain as
efficient and productive as possible.

Solution
An associate told Leah about Projjex and after
researching the service and a handful of
alternatives she signed up for a free trial at
projjex.com.

Her biggest client, an international media
company, wanted very detailed task and time
tracking: by person, department, data source
and frequency. The tagging feature in Projjex
was perfect, allowing Leah to categorize and
sort tasks and to export time data into excel
subtotaled by department at month's end.

Another client, an online marketing agency,
needed only a summary of tasks on the invoice
and a time sheet. Leah uses the Billing Advice
and PDF reports features in Projjex to provide
them with the time sheet detail they required.

Leah employs a number of subcontractors
when working with certain clients. Projjex
enables her to provide these clients detailed
time and billing reports for herself as well as
for her subcontractors. She then exports the
Costing advice and Profitability reports to Excel
to determine the total amount payable to each
of her subcontractors and her net return.

"The time sheets feature has really been a
godsend for me," Leah says. "Prior to Projjex
my subcontractors would email me their hours
so I'd have to track multiple emails per subcontractor
each month and manually add up
the hours in order to pay them on time as well
as accurately bill my clients. And the Projjex
interface is so clean and easy to use that even
my subcontractors enjoy using it - it actually
saves them time as well, especially since they
are already in Projjex managing their daily
tasks and workflow."

Results

Leah and her team now use Projjex as a virtual
"work dashboard," logging in in the morning
and using the application throughout the day
to manage tasks, give and receive
assignments, update the status of their
projects, and track time.

Projjex enables Leah to customize task and
time-tracking by client and assign tasks to her
subcontractors in an easy and streamlined
manner. She has found that this allows
expectations and deadlines to be met more
frequently. Projjex has also simplified timetracking
for her subcontractors and actually
helps them get paid quicker. "Projjex saves
me at least 3-4 hours per month with the
books, freeing that time for billable hours. I
love it!"
